Heart goes out to runners and spectators alike in Boston. Running is empowering, challenging--freeing. What a bitter thing has happened. My thoughts and prayers are with all those injured, those fighting for life and those who lost the fight. Friends and family, hold on, hold on.
Look at how many regular citizens remained in place to render what aid they could. Look how many ran toward danger, confusion and horror--to help in whatever way they could. So many EMTs, medical crew, police, military personnel were already on scene. Medical tents were in place, state-of-the-art trauma facilities were at hand. Strangers stayed with traumatized persons amidst chaos and fear. People stepped up. Good people will always step up with selfless acts of compassion and courage.
