It's amazing the things you can see, yet not see. And further; what you perceive vs what you see.
Waaaay back in Season 1 of Major Crimes, Rusty's first night at Sharon's, we get a shot of her side table, next to the couch. Take note of the object the arrow's pointed toward (Reloaded, ep 1):
I saw this, but didn't really notice it, because at the time I was fixated on IDing the lamp & round drum table. That little item remained however, all the way through Season 2 (Poster Boy, ep 11):
And my first impression was wrong. I have a heavy Asian Art background--and what I flashed to when I saw that figurine was one of those ubiquitous Buddha hands that come in iron black, silver and gold. So I thought I saw something similar to this:
When what I was actually looking at, plain as day, was a Black Swan. Because Sharon loves ballet. And of course someone gave her a Black Swan figurine.
Redware swan figurine. Came in a few colorways. Sharon's seems non-reflective & I've only come across glossy ceramic figurines. But there may be a mat version out there. Or it may be a lighting deal on set. Made in Japan circa 1950. Found without too much hassle on Ebay, Etsy, occassionally local antique shops. There you have it.
