So thank God I've finally ID'd this piece of furniture. I've said many times that there are only a handful of items from Sharon's set dressing that I'd actually like to own--and this small bar/sideboard is one. Granted, I don't need it & won't get it, but I do like how functional it is & the fact that it can be used as a room divider is a bonus.
There are never any good images of this bar/sideboard from the show--because it's a dark piece of furniture, number one, and number two--it's usually shown from the back--i.e. the side that has chairs in front of it. Going just off of that has never been enough to narrow it down. And the few times we see the other side, the business side--it's been tighter closeups of the top of the thing--and not the entire sideboard.
Until the last few episodes of Season 3, that is! Bless you, Jackson, for showing up drunk at Sharon's--'cus that finally gave me the front shot I needed to ID this thing.
Here's a screen grab from the show:
What I see are two doors with silver, vertical handles that flank a center hutch divided in half: the bottom for wine bottles, the top for glasses, etc. I see that the bar is raised off the floor via sturdy, modern feet--no curves or metal--and finally, I see the top surface has a stepped back, smaller area that Sharon has items stashed in. Plus, in season's past I've noted that (from the other side) you can see this is a stepped top item--and I've also identified some of the times on top off, and stashed under this "shelf" area.
And this is the item. Shop around if you want it, because it can range in price from $400+ up to 1K.
When searching, I used terms: modern, contemporary, bar, sideboard, console, credenza. And eventually landed upon the above, produced by "Coaster Co." (I believe--there's not a ton of manufacture info out there, but the piece itself is easy to find & appears to come in a few color selections). Overstock has it, Amazon has it--at least as of January, 2015. As I said, shop around & pay attention to various delivery story nightmares.
Ta da! Finally. Sharon's contemporary sideboard/bar from Major Crimes.
